Songbird Revisited

SONGBIRD REVISITED
My songbird, my sweet songbird
What shall we play today
You find me, In sweet peace and time
And welcome me to stay
You come to my window, sing for me
And oh to touch you,
But I’d better just leave you be
Though I know you’re really not mine I will always think of you this way
Because everybody loves my songbird, and the song she plays
Though I know you’re really not mine I will always think of you this way
Because everybody loves my songbird, and the song she plays

UNWRITTEN STORY
Some wait for whatever is coming
Some dream of what may never be
You can see them running all over,
They’ll run fast but they’ll never be free
I just want to live in the moment
Time is not worrying me
Make every moment a home and let everything be
Let everything be
Let everything else be
We all have to do what we have to
Working our days, one by one
Hoping we can throw off our burden
On a day that may never come
I just want to live in the moment
Time is not worrying me
Make every moment a home and let everything be
Let everything be
Let everything else be
It’s like a book that you’re reading
With nothing left in the fold
An unwritten story
That as you’re living get’s told
The moment is waiting so take all the time you need
I just want to live in the moment
Time is not worrying me
Make every moment a home and let everything be
Let everything be
Let everything else be

Amongst The Pines

AMONGST THE PINES
Come wander out amongst the pines
When the full moon relieves the day
Sparking elations and other sensations
Daylight cannot convey
Come wander out amongst the pines
Farther out, dappled and grey
Now higher we climb, and for this brief time
Yours and mine, all we survey
So let the world spin in moonlight
Mountain sounds for us to play
And I will give you a taste of the good life
Call it the foggy mountain way
Come wander out amongst the pines
You’re a lady of subtle ways
Moonlight in your hair and no colors anywhere
And nothing we’ll need to say
Moonlight in your hair and no colors anywhere
And nothing we’ll need to say
So let the world spin in moonlight
Mountain sounds for us to play
And I will give you a taste of the good life
Call it the foggy mountain way
Call it the foggy mountain way

Call You Friend

CALL YOU FRIEND
All along the levee, the water is lapping up
Tired earth, about ready to give it up
Red earth, giving birth, to a valley again
Out on the water, or tripping to Xanadu
Now the earth, will surround you
Sheltered from, the coming storm
Now that peace has found you
Are you feeling no pain, feel no wind, feel no rain
But ain’t it a shame, for we who remain, to go on without you ’til the end
I called you friend
I called you friend
Down from the mountain, a river is flowing
Now it’s much more than a stream
It’s moving again, around the bend
And life is just to dream
Are you feeling no pain, feel no wind, feel no rain
but ain’t it a shame, for we who remain, to go on without you ’til the end
I called you friend
I called you friend

SEAMIST
In this world there’s so many things one can try
I try to keep up but the kids all pass me by
And everybody’s gone surfing now
I sit at home while I’m learning how to disguise
When the sea mist gets in my eyes
On idle days when we trip on down to the beach
A feeling nags me that there’s something far out of reach
And everybody’s gone surfing now
I try to fight it and I’m learning how to disguise
When the sea mist gets in my eyes
Goodbye Laguna, I should’ve left the party sooner, so long
And Leo Carrillo, adios mi amigo, carry on
I stare out at the vastness of the sea
A wave of memory comes crashing down over me
And everybody’s gone surfing now
I sit at home while I’m learning how to disguise
When the sea mist gets in my eyes
Sea mist gets in my eyes

EL CAPITAN
All along the Muir trail and over Nevada Falls
Underneath Hetch-Hetchy, when they flooded her walls
I sense a presence there in the pines and the stones
A heartbeat much deeper than, of mere flesh and bone
I hear you calling me, a place so subtle I can’t see
Send word and I will be there
Amongst the palace that was not made by man
El Capitan
I’d give anything, everything I own
Cast it all into the sea, in the rocks and the foam
And I’d run any race, mile after mile
Once again to see your face, feel the warmth of your smile
I hear you calling me, a place so subtle I can’t see
Send word and I will be there
Amongst the palace that was not made by man
El Capitan
I hear you calling me, a place so subtle I can’t see
Send word and I will be there
Amongst the palace that was not made by man
El Capitan

Morning Light

MORNING LIGHT (BY JOSH SCHWARTZ)
Sometimes I read a picture like a book, then I close my eyes and take a second look
The images take on a strange new life, colors flying in the moonlit night
One time I swear I saw your face, looking down from outer space
I jumped so high I touched the sky, but I couldn’t get to you this time
Until the next time that I try don’t be scared of the morning
Brings a new day when the feeling’s right
Don’t be scared of morning light
Brings a new day when the feeling’s right
Don’t be scared of morning light
Don’t be scared of morning light
Brings a new day, brings a new day
Brings a new day, brings a new day
I save my smiles for strangers ‘caus they don’t know my name
They know that I’m a singer, but they don’t know what I sing
So I don’t let them see me, ‘caus I am often seen
Hiding from the morning light, wide awake lost in a dream
I jumped so high I touched the sky, but I couldn’t get to you this time
Until the next time that I try don’t be scared of the morning
Brings a new day when the feeling’s right
Don’t be scared of morning light
Brings a new day when the feeling’s right
Don’t be scared of morning light
Don’t be scared of morning light
Brings a new day, brings a new day
Brings a new day, brings a new day

LOST ALONG THE WAY
Who would stop here at this hour
Morning sky is cold and gray
Barely see the lighthouse tower
I got lost along the way
I’ve done this drive a hundred times
Don’t recognize the highway signs, I’m stranded
Old mission empty for morning prayer
No one can hear me crying out here, abandoned
Who would stop here at this hour
Morning sky is cold and gray
Barely see the lighthouse tower
I got lost along the way
I followed this path down to the beach
Fog funneled through the cypress trees
White washed walls beg for moonlight
Sunrise burn off this endless night
Darkest mist moves like a river
Before the dawn your hands will shiver
Darkest mist rolls back to the ocean
As the dawn shows it’s devotion

MANTRA
I’m balanced here, as if on a clothesline
And although I fall, I easily find
I return to the mantra, that’s tuned to my mind
And with meditation, I’m leaving behind
Sense gratification, for self-realization
Sense gratification, for self-realization
As far as I can go (Inside), although it may be slow, lifetimes developing
Like oceans pitch and roll (calmed by), effortlessly controlled, heart and soul, enveloping
To break down barriers, the more the merrier
Thoughts interfere with intuitive knowing
But they’ll all disappear, as this faculty’s growing
I was given a mantra, it’s tuned to my mind
And with meditation, I’m leaving behind
Sense gratification, for self-realization
Sense gratification, for self-realization
As far as I can go (inside), although it may be slow, lifetimes developing
Like oceans pitch and roll (calmed by), effortlessly controlled, heart and soul, enveloping
To break down barriers, the more the merrier
(With our eyes closed, to view the cosmos)
As far as I can go, although it may be slow, lifetimes developing
Like oceans pitch and roll, effortlessly controlled, heart and soul, enveloping
To break down barriers, the more the merrier
(With our eyes closed, to view the cosmos)
